A proper Winter Wonderland of festive frolics at SaltAyre

Salt Ayre Sports Centre will be opening its doors and embracing the festive spirit this Christmas by hosting its first ever Winter Wonderland event.

We've all heard stories of 'Winter Wonderland Parks that charge the earth and present crushing disappointments. But this, we can promise you, is a barrel of festive fun and jinks at very affordable prices, thanks to a bit of seasonal cheer from the National Lottery.

From Tuesday, December 23 until Sunday, January 4, there’ll be fun activities for all the family including an indoor synthetic ice skating rink, winter refreshments and kids’ activities including those most popular of modern traditions - a bouncy castle and face painting.

Santa (who we hope will be suitably toned)  will also make a special appearance in his grotto on the December 23 and 24 and will be giving out treats to his young visitors.

Coun Ron Sands, Cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, said:  “Thanks to National Lottery funding, Winter Wonderland will be a real community-focused event, with dedicated young family and adult only skating sessions on offer as well as exclusive use sessions for community-based groups.” (That's a hint to get your group bookings in!)
