Fracking has been happening for many years since 1944 and in the past decades onshore in UK (south wale and mid sussex) as well as in the middle of the North Sea and elsewhere around the world. Not sure why it is such an issue now.
Which expert do you believe? US or UK?
As an organisation that are responsible for the general public safety and interests, both the parliamentary committee, BGS and DECC they have to examine the matter more objectively and scientifically.
As for Gasland. The methane in the water is from decomposing organic matters by bacteria and not from fracking. Flamming water examples has been documented in 1908 long before any fracking taken place in Penn.
If it is really that bad I don’t see the reason why yet the shale gas industry are booming in the US (i guess the whole US love drinking contaminated water and under quake-damaged house so much that the boom is continued and about to explode and even got a strong backing and commitment from Obama, a greeniest president, in his recent State of Union speech) as such that gas price is 1/3 of UK and no longer have to import gas. Unlike the UK, we got the cheap gas resource under our feet but the public love to pay through the nose and the government go into budget deficit to get gas from Russia and middle east. Not making fracking sense, does it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
